Mary A. Scherer

Mary A. Scherer, age 83, of Fond du Lac, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on November 29, 1941, in Burlington, WI, the daughter of Leo and Gertrude (Chappy) Gurath. On March 29, 1960, she married Stanley Scherer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Mary worked at Kroger’s and for many years at Napa Auto Parts in Fond du Lac. She enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, gambling, and most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley; their children, Jayne (Matt Grunke) Levinger, Gary Scherer, Jody Scherer, and Julie (John Peebles) Pilak; grandchildren, Nick (Taya Schairer) Grahl, Cory Scherer, Ashly (Steve) Pickering, Brandon Scherer, Jacob (Mikeala Bennett) Levinger, and Hunter Levinger; five great-grandchildren; her brothers, Fr. Guy Gurath, Danny Gurath, and Michael (Marianne) Gurath; sister-in-law, Susie Scherer; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; multiple brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A private family funeral service will follow the visitation. Cremation has taken place.
