Michael A. Moon

Oct 4, 1962 — Jul 6, 2026

Michael A. Moon, age 63, of Fond du Lac, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 6, 2026, at St. Agnes Hospital.

Mike was born on October 4, 1962, in Fond du Lac, the son of Victor and Valeria (Ebling) Moon.

Mike was the kind of person who made the world a little brighter simply by being in it. He never needed much to be happy and believed that the best things in life were the moments spent with the people he loved. A simple man with a generous heart, he treasured memories over possessions and found joy in life’s everyday moments.

To know Mike was to know kindness. He had a gentle spirit, a warm smile, and a heart that welcomed everyone. Whether it was family, friends, neighbors, or someone he had just met, Mike treated every person with genuine compassion and respect. Time and again, those who knew him described him as one of the kindest people they had ever met.

Family was the center of Mike’s life. His children were his pride and joy, and the relationship they shared was one that most people only dream of having. He was so much more than a father. He was our best friend, our confidant, our biggest supporter, and our trusted advisor. No matter what life brought, he was always there with a listening ear, thoughtful advice, and unconditional love. More often than not, he was right, and because of the wisdom he shared throughout our lives, we learned to trust his guidance completely. The love between Mike and his children was extraordinary and remained the foundation of his life.

Mike was also a devoted brother who loved his sisters with all his heart. He cherished the lifelong bond they shared and remained a constant source of love, support, and encouragement throughout their lives. Family was never just important to Mike. It was everything.

He was also a devoted grandfather and great grandfather. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He rarely missed a school concert, sporting event, or special activity, and being there to cheer them on brought him immeasurable joy. While he had recently developed a love for watching football, he would have chosen watching one of his grandchildren play their sport over any game on television. His family was always his favorite team.

Mike believed that hard work was one of life’s greatest values. He was a dedicated employee with an incredible work ethic, taking pride in every job he did and believing that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing well. He instilled those same values in his children and grandchildren, leading by example through his integrity, dependability, and commitment to providing for his family. Mike spent the final 20 years of his career as a Maintenance Technician with Oakbrook Corporation before retiring in March 2021.

Mike found beauty in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gardening and took great pride in tending to his flowers and plants. He cherished traveling with his children and grandchildren, especially taking trips to places they had never explored before and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

He also had a deep appreciation for history and anything that carried a story from the past. He enjoyed classic cars, trains, antique tractors, and all things old, admiring the craftsmanship, history, and character they represented.

He had a playful sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him and a quiet strength that made everyone feel safe. Although he never sought recognition, he made a lasting impact through his compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for others.

Although his time with us was far too short, the kindness, love, and wisdom he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family truly won the jackpot in having him as their dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, and friend, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled.

Mike is survived by his children, Stephanie Buchanan and Daniel (Alexandria) Moon; his grandchildren, Ethan (Brianna) Newby, Preston Moon, Dean Moon, Jace Buchanan, Olivia Moon, and Miranda Moon; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Newby, Wynter Newby, and Emmett Newby; his sisters, Diane Steger, Karen Dukes, Vickie Moon, and Carol (Jim LaFleur) Moon; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Valeria Moon; his brother, Bruce Moon; and his brothers in law, Denis Hauser, Barry Dukes, and Jerry Steger.
