Michael J. Wood

Michael J. Wood, age 66, died unexpectedly but peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2026, at his residence in Fond du Lac. He was born in Milwaukee on August 9, 1960, the son of Joseph Wood and Sonia Tomlinson. Michael graduated from Brookfield East High School and then went on to receive his master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. On August 7, 2004, he married Tricia Padrutt-Bacon in Wisconsin Dells. Michael had a long management career in the commercial insurance industry. He worked at Society Insurance from 2000 until his retirement in 2021. He had a warm outgoing personality and an amazing sense of humor always finding ways to make people laugh. Michael loved nature and the great outdoors. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin overlooking the lake and witnessing the wildlife. Michael was an avid duck hunter, deer hunter, and fisherman. He loved dogs his whole life, they were his loyal hunting companions and his extended family.

Survivors include his wife, Tricia; his children, Cassandra Bacon and Natalie Wood; his dogs, Bella and Aspen; his parents, Joseph (Carole) Wood and Sonia Wilhelm; his siblings, Sheryl Briesemeister and Lisa (Michael) Hartman; his sister-in-law, Tina (Jesse) Myers; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Wilhelm; his brother-in-law, John Briesemeister.

Visitation will take place on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home. Private family entombment will take place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
