Patrick R. Schuppe

March 17, 1955 — September 23, 2025

Patrick R. Schuppe was born on March 17, 1955. Patrick loved the fact that he was born on St. Patrick's Day! Just a few short months later, he was brought to the home of Carl and Florence Schuppe. Carl and Florence took care of foster children and happily took this little baby boy into their care, later on adopting him. Patrick lived his whole life in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He graduated from Goodrich High School on June 7, 1973, and has also been a faithful member of Church of Our Saviour. His faith in God was important to him, and he even picked out the scriptures he wanted read at his service and also the hymns.

Patrick worked at Brooke Industries for many years and had a strong passion for fighting for the rights of developmentally disabled citizens. In his words "to recognize them as citizens, not because they are handicapped, but because they are like everybody else." He was a member of the Assembly Delegates and spoke before the Fond du Lac County Board on behalf of ARC to protect their funding from being cut. Over the years, he helped out in many other ways such as participating in the Winter Games, selling raffle tickets, selling chili supper tickets, and writing letters of concern to the local, state and national government officials. Patrick was the recipient of the Individual Achievement Award from Rehabilitation. This award was presented to persons challenged by disabilities who achieved personal success in maximizing their potential and serving as role models for others.

The YMCA was also very important to Patrick! He became a member in 1965 and has been known to say he “couldn't imagine his life without the Y,” and that he had many friends at the Y that looked out for him. Patrick gave financial support to the Y as well as participated in many fund-raising activities, including golf!

Patrick had many other interests in his life. He very much enjoyed get togethers with friends. He loved to visit his family in Colorado and prayed for each one of them (and their pets) every night. He enjoyed following Wall Street and could tell you the CEO of any company. He was a member of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society and enjoyed volunteering at the Galloway House. He enjoyed music and attended numerous summer concerts. He was very involved in politics and proudly dedicated to the Republican Party. He enjoyed listening to the old-time radio shows that his brother-in-law taped for him. Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Durante, Jack Benny ... some of the GREATS (as Patrick would say). He also loved to watch old game shows.

Sadly, Patrick departed this life at the age of 70 on September 23, 2025. Patrick Schuppe touched so many in his community and will be greatly missed. Please join us as we honor his life.
