Paul Joseph "Boomer" Koll

Paul Joseph Koll aka “Boomer”, 74, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at SSM Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, WI after a courageous battle with cancer.

Boomer was born on March 22, 1951, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI to Ralph and Rosemary Koll of Theresa, WI. He was a 1969 graduate of Lomira High School and then went on to earn a Political Science Degree with an emphasis on foreign relations from UW-Milwaukee. Boomer married Yvonne Kloetzke on March 17, 1978, at the Church of Peace in Fond du Lac.

Boomer worked at the USPS in Fond du Lac as a Mail Carrier for 43 years. During his career Boomer made numerous friends on his routes, always delivering mail with a smile in any weather condition. He was such a likeable person as the neighborhood kids would follow him around as if he was the Pied Piper. During the holidays his customers would show their appreciation for his dedication by giving him stacks of gift cards, candy, nuts, and of course a bottle of his favorite cocktail “additive”.

Boomer never had children of his own, but his home was always open to anyone that needed help or just a place to hang out. Boomer’s kindness was so great he was known to befriend anyone, even those who may not have been so popular in society. Boomer was a huge animal lover of all types. Over the years he had many Cocker Spaniels, naughty kittens, frogs, lizards, and of course the one and only Cockatoo “The Gov”.

Boomer spent a lot of his free time restoring three different old Victorian homes in Fond du Lac. In his most recent home, Boomer built an atrium where he housed and cared for many plants such as orchids, bromeliads, and other various tropical flowers. Boomer loved to sit in his “plant room” and read, listen to music, drink coffee with friends, or just watch the birds visit the feeder.

Boomer is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Kloetzke), three brothers: Mike (Mary) Koll; John (Denise Leong) Koll; and Gene (Pam) Koll; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Annie (Jerry) Resop; nieces and nephews: Matt (Jill) Koll; Rachel (Roger) Raimundo; Brian (Heather) Koll; Katie (Michael) Noel, Ryan (Amber) Koll; Shannon (Cory) Nitz; Savannah (Chad) Brotherton; and Travis (Sarah) Kloetzke and many grand nieces and nephews. Boomer was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Rosemary Koll; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Deloris Kloetzke; bother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Kathy Kloetzke; and nephew Chad Groff.

Boomer truly was a free spirit and unique soul. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and interacted with him. Cremation has already taken place. At Boomer’s request no formal funeral will take place.
