Philip F. Wurtz, (82), of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on May 18, 2023. Philip, known as Phil, was born to Freeland and Marion Wurtz on April 25, 1941, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. As a child he had a love of horses, where his first business was a pony merry-go-round. That affection toward horses eventually turned towards cats. Throughout his life Phil jovially talked about the great mouser! Phil set out to give his children exposure to as many things as he was able to, including practically living on the Mississippi River for several years even though he was afraid of water and was not able to swim. He gave of himself to help others, sometimes causing himself great pain. His smile and laugh would light up the room. He will be missed by his family, friends and those who became his family.
He is survived by his brother and sister and their spouses, Richard (Millie), Kathy (John), his children Deb (Brian), Barb (Jeff), Mike and his grandchildren Alexandra, Ben and Cody.
To honor Phil’s memory, a service will be held at the Rienzi Chapel at N6101 County Road K, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Saturday, June 29 at 11:00am. As a veteran, Phil supported veterans in various ways. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA.org) in Phil’s name.
