Phoebe Gene BarberMrs. Phoebe Barber, 79, formerly of Fond du Lac, and currently of 565 Slinger Road, Slinger, WI, died Monday, November 28, 2005, at her residence. She was born September 22, 1926, in Hannah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Art and Marie Wilson Macklam. She married Eugene R. Barber in Fond du Lac and he preceded her in death. She and her husband moved to Allenton in 1962 where they farmed and where he retired from Schlitz Brewery. Phoebe was a woman of many varied interests and they included gardening, bowling, sewing, painting, sheepshead, bingo, and taking rides. She was a member of West Bend Moose Chapter 732 where she loved to do volunteer work during Easter. Phoebe was always giving her time and herself, especially to children. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a seamstress.Surviving is a daughter, Sally (Gerry) Wagner of Hartford, WI, three sons, Robert Eugene (Janet) Barber of Allenton, WI, William Arthur (Linda) Barber of the Philippines, and Harvey Clarence (Barb) Barber of Choctaw, OK, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Shady Szalai of Menomonee, WI, and two brothers, Leon Macklam of Belton, TX, and Daniel (Cher) Macklam of St. Mary's Ohio. Her parents, husband, and a brother, Jake, preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Phoebe Gene Barber will be on Sunday, December 4, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, December 5, 2005, at 10:30 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Armstrong will officiate and burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.
