Royce B. Schultz

Jan 17, 1944 — Jun 19, 2026

Royce Bruce Schultz, age 82, of 83 20th St., Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, died June 19, 2026 at Avina on Division where he had been residing the last two months.

Royce was born January 17, 1944 in Beaver Dam, a son of Earl and Althea (Nehring) Schultz. He was confirmed in 8th grade at St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Horicon and graduated from Horicon High School in 1962.

On July 27, 1965 he married Geraldine C. Riel of Waupun. He and Geri had two children together, Vincent and Keetra. Royce and Geri later divorced.

On February 6, 1986 he married Julie A. Huck of Taycheedah in Brandon, Florida. He and Julie had two children together, Daniel and David.

From 1992 until his retirement in January 2002 he was the lead baker at Baker’s Pride Bakery in North Fond du Lac. Prior to working at the bakery, he was the produce manager at the Sentry grocery store in Madison from 1965 to 1970. In 1970 he moved to Fond du Lac and began working at Sterling Custom Homes as a building supervisor, leaving Sterling in 1982. Royce opened his first of four pet shops in 1982, Fourteenth Street Pets in Fond du Lac. He later sold the store in Fond du Lac and opened Tanks-a-Lot Plus in Ripon, relocating Tanks-a-Lot first to Oshkosh, and finally to Waupun.

Tropical fish were a passion of Royce’s for more than 50 years of his life. He received his first fish when he was 7 years old as a get-well gift from his doctor, Dr. Roberts from Beaver Dam. Shortly thereafter, around age 10, he was introduced to another lifelong passion when Dick Bunkeski of Horicon sold him his first King Pigeon for $5. From that point on he enjoyed raising and showing his King Pigeons all over the Midwest as a member of the American King Club.

Royce was also quite enthusiastic about the cars he drove. From his red 1962 Chevy 409 to his 1977 Corvette to his final muscle car, a green 1978 Malibu, Royce was very involved in showing his cars at car shows all around the area, winning many trophies, and making many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Julie A. Schultz of Fond du Lac; his four children: Vince (Traci) Schultz of Fond du Lac; Keetra Schultz (special friend Jeremy North) of Hillsdale, Michigan; Dan (Katie) Schultz of New Berlin; and David (Alexandra) Schultz of Oshkosh. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Alaine (Colin) Birschbach, and Lukaas, Brodey, Matthew, Noah, Sofia, and Alivia Schultz, and one great-grandchild, Leon Birschbach. He is further survived by one sister, Joyce (John) Kornacki of Watertown, and many nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father on December 24, 1985 and his mother on May 21, 2001, and his half-brother Fred Bonde of Elkhart Lake in 2024.

A private family service will be held with entombment at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Cemetery.
