Ruth E. Schoepke

July 5, 1901 — April 13, 2004

Ruth E. Schoepke, age 102, a resident of Friendship Haven in Waupun, formerly of Oakfield, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the Waupun Christian Home. She was born on July 5, 1901 the daughter of Albert and Jennie Daane Zimmerman in the Town of Alto. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1918, attended Oshkosh State Teachers College and taught in rural schools in Dodge and Fond du Lac Counties. On September 10, 1924 she married Edgar Schoepke. They farmed in the Oakfield area all of their lives. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1973. They were members of the County, State, and National Holstein Associations. In 1966 they were recognized by the county association for their contributions to the organization. She was a member of Oakfield United Methodist Church and its women's society of Christian Service and taught Sunday school and served on the church administrative board and at one time was the church treasurer. A charter member of the Highland Homemakers club and had served as Fond du Lac County Extension Homemakers treasurer and president. She was a fifty-year member of the Extension Homemakers; currently known as HCE-WI Home Community Education. Ruth also was a 4-H leader and enjoyed baking for her family, neighbors, friends, and the church. SURVIVORS: one daughter, Saloah (William) Hageman of Fond du Lac, one granddaughter Susan (Daniel) Herlache of DeForest, WI, one grandson, William (Kelly) Hageman II, of DeForest, WI, five great-grandchildren, Bryan, Kristin, and Ketelyn Herlache, Justin and Lauren Hageman. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, one in infancy, one sister, and her husband.



VISITATION: Saturday, April 17, 2004 from 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at Oakfield United Methodist Church. FUNERAL: Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 11:30 A.M. at Oakfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Nancy Green officiating. Burial will follow at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield. Memorials appreciated to Oakfield United Methodist Church.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
