Sally A. Rieder

Sally A. Rieder, 90, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, July 25, 2025, at SSM Health’s Hospice Home of Hope. She was born in Waupun on November 22, 1934, to Harald and Georgia (Griffith) Hanson. On May 7, 1960, Sally married Orville G. Rieder at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac. Orville preceded Sally in death on June 13, 2018.

Family was Sally’s life, and her greatest joy. Sally loved family outings/vacations and events – basically, any time she could spend with her family. She was dedicated to her grandchildren, and over the years was always there for them – attending their games, school events, and more. Sally worked in retail sales for over 25 years developing lifelong friendships. She enjoyed reading, completing puzzle books and watching cooking and game shows. She always had a smile on her face and warm conversations with people. Her gift of small talk made her instant friends with whomever she met. “Sweet” was a word you often heard by others to describe her. She always made you feel important and special in her presence.

Survivors include her three children, Michelle (Daryl) Maternowski of Milwaukee, Michael Rieder of Fond du Lac, and Rachelle (Reid) Krist of Sheboygan Falls; seven grandchildren, Tony Rieder (fiancée Eyliea Salentine), Calli (Thomas) Rieder, Ryan (Samantha) Krist, Ross and Rianna Krist, and Jacob and Kacey Maternowski; two great-grandsons, Mason Roberts and Owen Krist; along with many brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, and her beloved grand-dogs.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sally was preceded in death by her brother and sister in law, Paul (Patricia) Hanson and several brothers-in-law.

Sally’s immediate family will have a private celebration of life. Cremation has taken place.
