Scott T. Murtha

Scott T. Murtha, 69, of Fond du Lac, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Harbor Haven Health & Rehabilitation. He was born October 17, 1953 in Fond du Lac, WI, son of William and Kathryn (Riggs) Murtha. On May 5, 1973 he married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart Charla J. Caldwell in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. They just celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage together. Scott was a graduate of Sault Area High School, Class of 1971, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Scott and his wife Charla owned and operated Scott’s Discount Printing in Fond du Lac, WI. Along with the assistance of their family, they had 24 successful years in business before retiring in 2019. He loved being a printer and his employees and customers became like family. Scott was a lifelong Packer fan. His passion for football began at a young age and he was the captain of his high school football team, Sault High Blue Devils. Some of his favorite things were watching football and baseball, the Three Stooges, and the band Heart. He loved watching old tv shows, going for drives and spending time with his family. Scott was a kind and generous man whose faith and family were the most important things in his life. “How lucky we are to have someone so special, that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

He is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Charla; three children, Lucas (Ashley Batterman) Murtha, Amy (Anthony) Surian, and Emily (Andy) Johnson; five grandchildren, Trenton (Makenna Pucker) Murtha, Hunter Murtha, Onalee Surian, Maggie Burk and Finnegan Burk; brother, Bruce Murtha; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law, Claude and Norma Jean Caldwell.

Private family services will be held on Friday, July 14 at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac, WI. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date.
