Sharon L. Wendel, 79, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, January 24, 2022, at her residence with family by her side. She was born on August 20, 1942, in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Kenneth W., Emmeletta (Simm), and Dolores (Klann) Graham. Sharon graduated from Waukesha High School. On September 14, 1979, she married Gary Wendel in Fond du Lac. Sharon loved reading, watching westerns (especially anything that Sam Elliot was in), watching the Green Bay Packers, listening to Neil Diamond, going out to eat at any Supper Club, and her 6 toed cat, Izzy. The most important thing in her life was spending time with family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by five children, AJ Wendel, Dan (Laura) Volkaitis, Christi (John) Bartelak, Robin (Andy) Schmitz, and Scott (Renae) Volkaitis; eighteen grandchildren, Jaime (Morgan) Esser, Veronica Gill, Justin Volkaitis, Nick Volkaitis, Nykole Wendel, Morgan Wendel, Danielle (Zach) Cudworth, Amber (Tony) Itzenhuiser, Joe Bartelak, Kyle Volkaitis, Terra Volkaitis, Amanda Volkaitis, Kelly (Brandon) Erickson, Eric (Meghan) Schmitz, Kara (Sean) Mayerbock; Danica Wendel, Anthony Wendel, and Xander Wendel; 23 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; two sisters, Pamela Bauer and Carrie (Dennis) Goodchild; sister-in-law, Sharon (Tom) Fischer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth, Emmeletta, and Dolores; husband, Gary; son, Michael Wendel; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Jan Wendel; and sister, Theresa Dougherty.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 10 AM – 12 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A Liturgy of the Word will be held following the visitation at 12 PM at the funeral home. Burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Fond du Lac, WI.
