Sharon Lee Rasmussen

Mar 9, 1946 — Aug 30, 2026

Sharon Lee Rasmussen, 80, of Fond du Lac, WI, passed away on August 30, 2026. She was born March 9, 1946, to Glenn and Edythe (Zech) Schattschneider. Sharon was raised on the family farm in the township of Springvale, WI and attended school in Rosendale, WI.

On April 4, 1965, Sharon married the love of her life, Russell Rasmussen. Together they built a life and a family grounded in love, faith, and devotion. Shortly after their marriage, Sharon followed Russ to Fulda, Germany where he served in the US Army. Upon their return to the US, they made their home in Fond du Lac and welcomed two daughters, Cindy and Marcia. They built their dream house on the ledge east of Fond du Lac and raised their family there.

Sharon was one of the original working moms -- working outside the home as a bookkeeper for several local businesses, teaching part-time at Moraine Park Technical College and later, co-owning a quilting supply store, Gingerbread Junction, in Fond du Lac. Through her example as both a career woman and a homemaker, she instilled a strong sense of independence and self-reliance in her daughters.

Sharon was also a painter, a quilter, a Master Gardener, a scrapbooker, a crocheter -- she never met a craft or hobby that she didn't try and that she didn't try to teach to those around her, whether they wanted to learn or not. She shared her talents through her volunteer work - maintaining local community gardens with the Fond du Lac Master Gardeners, making pies for the Salem UMC fundraiser, and her favorite, as a kindergarten classroom Grandma at Elizabeth Waters School. As her vision failed, she recruited her family to be her eyes, allowing her to continue crafting and gardening. She found her greatest joy in her garden -- planting hundreds of flowers each year with the help of her garden cats, Speedy and O.C.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Russell Rasmussen; her sister, Karen (Milan) Gerber of Brandon, WI; her daughters, Cindy (Steve) Brodigan of Chanhassen, MN, and Marcia (Mike Morris) Rasmussen of Little Rock, AR; and her grandchildren, Emma Brodigan and her fiancé, Bobby Vespa, of Quincy, MA; Erin Brodigan of Dover, NH; Ben Weider and his girlfriend, Lilly Hall, of Conway, AR; and Jacob Weider of Conway, AR. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Dennis (Gloria) Rasmussen of Van Dyne, WI; her nieces and nephews; and special friends, Wayne and Allys Rudisill of Winneconne, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Edythe Schattschneider; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Erving and Sophie Rasmussen; her brother-in-law, Roger Snyder; and her sister-in-law, Gloria Rasmussen.

The family would like to extend their profound gratitude to the SSM Hospital 5th Floor South staff and to the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
