Shirley A. Abler

Shirely A. Abler, 86, of Fond du Lac, died on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Francis Home. She was born on July 20, 1940, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Manuel and Bernice (Roberts) Hernandez. On July 27, 1963, she married George Abler at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. Shirely was a member of St. Mary's Church, Altrus International, Daughter of Isabella, and was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army at Shopko for over 20 years. She worked at Mayville Metal for many years until her retirement. One of the most joyous times in her life was being "Grandma" to the neighbor girls who she loved dearly.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; five sisters, Rosie, Mary Lou, Mary, Margaret, and Patti; and three brothers, Benny, Joe, and Frank.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 59 East Merrill Avenue, Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
