With great love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Susan Carol Mews, who left this world peacefully on August 22, 2025, at the age of 81.
Susan was born on April 5, 1944, to Clifford and Mildred (Yaeger) Bratz. She grew up with a strong foundation of love and faith, which she carried throughout her life.
Susan married the love of her life, David C. Mews, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion, laughter, and family. Together, they built a home filled with love and raised a family that was always her greatest joy.
Susan was the most loving and selfless person her family ever knew. She gave everything she had to those she loved and never asked for anything in return, teaching her children the meaning of kindness, strength, and unconditional love.
She had a way of making everyone feel welcome—through her warm smile, comforting hugs, or her famous home-cooked meals, which almost always ended with the smoke alarm going off. Susan was also known for her crocheting, always having a hat or baby blanket ready for anyone in need, and she loved tending her garden, spending hours weeding and making her flower beds perfect. To Susan, family was everything, and she poured her heart into every moment spent together.
Susan had four children, William (Lisa) Mews, Richard (Lory) Mews, James Mews, and Tami (Brian) Lemke; her grandchildren: Rachel, Eric, Mallory (Shaun), Tanner (Carla), Mackenzie, Charlie, Madison, Kaylin, and Easton; and her great-grandchildren: Micah and Lucas. She is also survived by siblings, Karen (Harry) Keene and Dennis (Sandy) Bratz. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David C. Mews, her brother Gary (Sandy) Bratz, and her parents, Clifford and Mildred.
Her family will forever cherish talks, laughter, and the way she always knew just what to say. Most of all, they will miss her steady, gentle presence, the love she carried so faithfully for all of them.
Visitation will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent St, Fond du Lac, WI on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Susan’s life.
