Thomas C. "Good Tommy" Faris

Tom C. “Good Tommy” Faris, 91, of Fond du Lac, passed peacefully into his eternal home with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the St. Francis Home while surrounded by the love of his family.Born in Fond du Lac on October 26, 1934, to Jimmy and Yasmin “Josephine” or “Jo” (David) Faris, Tommy was raised in a home rooted in faith, family, and compassion. His Catholic faith guided every aspect of his life and remained the foundation upon which he built his family, friendships, career, and service to others. 

Tommy attended Lincoln School, St. Mary’s School, and St. Mary’s Springs High School before graduating from Wisconsin State College–Oshkosh in 1957. His strong work ethic began early, selling vegetables from farm trucks and working as a stock clerk at Merwin’s Department Store. To help pay for college, he performed as a drummer in a dance band, beginning a lifelong love of music. He continued playing with several bands for more than 45 years and especially enjoyed jazz, often listening alongside his beloved wife, Marilyn.

Following graduation, Tommy began his professional career with the Catholic Herald Citizen newspaper before embarking on a successful career in sales. He later founded Tom Faris and Associates, where his genuine ability to connect with people and build lasting relationships allowed him to enjoy an extraordinary 65-year career.

At a Marian College dance, Tommy met the love of his life, Marilyn Jean Kubly. The two were married in October 1961 and shared nearly 65 years of marriage. Together they raised three sons: Daniel, Patrick, and Timothy.

Tommy was a devoted husband, father, mentor, and friend. He welcomed many into his life as though they were family, generously sharing his wisdom, faith, encouragement, and unwavering belief in helping others become the best version of themselves. His kindness, integrity, and example left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Known throughout the community as “Good Tommy,” he dedicated countless hours to civic and charitable organizations. A longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fond du Lac Evening Optimist Club, he helped lead numerous community improvement projects at Lakeside Park, including restoration of the Lighthouse and Bandstand, creation of the Patriotic Garden, refurbishment of “The Hiker” statue to restore to its bronze finish, and installation of the flagpole at Frasier Point. He deeply valued honoring veterans and those who served our country.

His devotion to the Blessed Mother inspired him to design a grotto to enclose a statue of our Blessed Mother to be constructed at Sacred Heart Church. Proud of his Lebanese heritage, Tommy loved preparing traditional Lebanese meals with Marilyn for family gatherings and private events. He also found joy in gardening, making sauerkraut, biking, fishing, hunting, and passing those traditions on to his sons and friends. Among his favorite stories were harvesting four deer with four shots in the Nicolet Forest. Back then this filled the camp’s legal limit. And another was when he reeled in a large sturgeon on the Menominee River using only a hook and line.

Tommy’s warmth, humor, storytelling, quick wit, “gift of gab” (speaking with confidence and convincingly reeling one in) kept everyone on their toes. His infectious personality brought smiles wherever he went. And his steadfast faith, love for God, and deep devotion to his family defined a life lived with purpose, generosity, and grace.

Tommy leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Marilyn who cared for him with endless patience and concern. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in October of this year. Also grieving his passing are Tommy’s pride and joy; his sons, Daniel (Alice Mary), Patrick (Doreen), and Timothy (Dr. Shelly Faris); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother David Faris (Kathy); his sister Carol “Bunny” Gormican (John); and many cherished nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jo Faris; his parents-in-law, Lee and Ella Kubly; his brother, Jerry Faris; and his grandson, Patrick.

Marilyn and family extends heartfelt gratitude to their relatives, friends, and all who visited Tommy or brought meals and treats during his illness. They also express sincere appreciation to the staff of SSM Health and St. Francis Home for the compassionate care they provided.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, with a prayer of the Rosary at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 3, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 59 East Merrill Avenue in Fond du Lac with visitation at church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Burial in St. Charles Cemetery will follow the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local charity or nonprofit organization in Tommy’s memory.
