Virginia “Cookie” Perrizo, died Thursday, August 27, 2026. A uniquely beautiful woman, born May 12, 1935, during the depression. Her parents Stanley and Lucille Hlaban owned and operated a bakery in Sheboygan, WI, explaining the adorable nickname, Cookie.
Cookie attended St. Agnes School of Nursing to become an RN. During this time, she was introduced to Lee Perrizo on a blind date. Love at first sight does exist! After being married on September 3, 1956, along comes Ann Marie 9 months later; Sue Ellen 10 ½ months after that; and Julie Lynn not long following. Blessed with three girls, the family grew to five grandchildren, Justin, Alizabeth, Samuel, Chad, and Alex; resulting in six great grandchildren.
Cookie was a loving RN, working as an administrator of several nursing homes over 30 years. She was a passionate music lover, being most active in FDL Symphonic Band, Mesa Arizona Band, Sisters of St. Agnes, and others. Cookie was very artistic and loved quilting, sewing, knitting, and all fiber arts, dabbling in jewelry making, weaving, and more. Being an avid traveler, Lee and Cookie were members of Holiday Ramblers Motorhome Group, visiting California, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, Wyoming, Mexico, and Europe.
Cookie is survived by her daughter, Ann; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Stanley and Cleo Hlaban, Mary Ann Broeckel, and James and Mary Ellen Hlaban. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; and two daughters, Sue and Julie.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at church. Burial will occur in St. Charles Cemetery.
A very special thank you to James Kaiser for his relentless passion in caring for Cookie, also to the Habor Haven and Hospice staff for their care and compassion given to Cookie and her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band in Cookie's name.
