Virginia Phillips

August 20, 1917 — August 11, 2004

Virginia Phillips, 86, formerly of 19 N. Military Road, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at ManorCare Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the past 3 years. She was born August 20, 1917, in North Fond du Lac, a daughter of Michael and Theodora Lekakis Julas George. On October 30, 1938, she married Steve N. Phillips at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1999. Mrs. Phillips was a life member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, and a member of the Philoptochos Society since her 16th birthday. She also taught Sunday School and Greek School, and enjoyed her teaching. She and her husband owned and operated Phillips Restaurant in Fond du Lac from 1946 until 1982. Prior to this, she and her husband lived in Green Bay from 1938 to 1946, where they worked in the restaurant business. Mrs. Phillips was a 1934 graduate of North Fond du Lac High School. She loved to read, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Bill) Anagnos of Mt. Prospect, Il, and Julie Phillips of Fond du Lac, four grandchildren: Demetra (Louis) Disotuar of Chicago, Lia Menas of Madison, John and Sophia Anagnos of Mt. Prospect, IL, and her son-in-law, Deno Menas of Fond du Lac. Her parents, husband, a daughter, Arlene Menas (1989), and three brothers, John, George, and James George preceded her in death.



Visitation for Mrs. Virginia Phillips will be on Thursday, August 12, 2004, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Friday, August 13, 2004, from 10 to 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Trisaigon prayer services will be held at 7 pm on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2004, at 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. The Rev. Peter Pappademetriou will officiate and burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
